Step Up. Step Out. Achieve Your Goals and Dreams.
Have you ever been hesitant to ask for help? When I ask my audiences that question, most raise their hand – YES! Why is that? I believed asking for help meant that I was weak. I thought it was a sign that I was incompetent and not good enough. If you are like most of the world, you probably have set your sights on some new goals for 2018. Which of those goals will challenge you the most and who is going to help you achieve them?
My mission, as professional speaker and keynote performer, is to inspire you to live beyond your comfort zone. The reason I am so very passionate about this is because, I never, in my wildest dreams, imagined I would be on these big stages speaking and performing in front of hundreds. When I stepped out of my comfort zone, I found fulfillment of the richest kind for the first time in my life. However, I didn’t do it alone. I got help and guidance.
And that is why I do what I do. Think of me as your personal coach! I want people to have the life of their dreams because it IS possible! I want people, like you, to take the first step out of your comfort zone. Therefore, my mission this month, is to invite, encourage, insist, inspire, whatever word works for you… to take the first step!
- Challenge yourself to go after something you’ve always wanted.
- Reach for goals that seem impossibly out of reach.
- Try something you’ve never done before that will give you the life of your dreams.
Confession Time.
When I began performing with my Rock ‘n’ Roll band (after not singing/playing guitar for 35 years), I knew my natural talent was to perform on stage. What I didn’t realize, was that even though I had raw talent, it definitely needed to be developed, polished and improved. When I listened to my first performances… oh my GaGa! I really didn’t sound like a Rock ‘n’ Roll singer – at all! I sounded as though I was still singing in the high school choir but I didn’t know how to change it.
As the ole saying goes ”When the student is ready, the teacher appears.” That is exactly what happened for me. One day, when I wasn’t looking, I was introduced to a local Chicago rock ‘n’ roll guitar and singing coach. He agreed to help me shed my choir robe to sing, play guitar, and perform more like a rock ‘n’ roller!
Honestly, the lessons were tough! And I noticed my hesitancy. It was nerve-wracking. What I discovered though, was that when we ask for help, we become stronger. The more guidance I received, the more my performing improved! My confidence and courage grew on and off the stage. I performed with the band. And then, I moved onto much larger stages as a professional keynote speaker and performer.
The Lesson.
There is greater strength when you get help from others.
- What changes do you want to make this year to step out of your comfort zone?
- Who is going to help you?
- Remember: It’s easy to stay with what is familiar and comfortable, but we only grow when we stretch.
The Formula.
In previous articles, I explained the first 2 letters in the GaGa formula:
- The first “G” is for Gifts– recognize all your natural talents
- The first “A” is for Action – take the first step to reach beyond your comfort zone
- And today, we discuss the 2nd G – “Guidance.”
To reach a greater level of success in any area of our life, we need to get guidance, coaching, or training to take us to the next level. You don’t have to go it alone. Getting guidance changed my life. Who will help you?
You see, it’s never too late to realize your full potential and achieve your biggest goals and dreams.
- Identify your Gifts!
- Take a step towards Action!
- Find the right type of Guidance!
Remember Guidance will lead you to greatness! Here’s to Unleashing Your Inner Superstar!
