Wavering or Ready to Take Action?

Lynn O'DowdGoGaGa News

“A” is for “Action.” And, It’s Time.

Think about it. Where are you right now in your life? Where were you 11 months ago? Where do you want to be at the end of next month? What are you needing to make that happen? For many of us, we desire greater success, increased fulfillment and more happiness in our lives. Last month, we talked about The Secret Gifts for Success. We learned then that the first “G” in “GaGa” is for “Gifts.”

This month, we unwrap the second letter in my “GaGa” formula, “A” for “Action.” If you desire to achieve something different than where you are right now, to go from being super stuck to a Superstar, then thinking about it is not enough. You must take action.

Change Requires Action – Time to Act!

We all know we can just exist, and go through the motions. However, if you are reading this, we both know that there is a part of you that knows you are capable of more – you are capable of playing on a bigger stage. I have both witnessed from others and experienced it myself – there is always a moment of transformation – a turning point. Not external, but rather, something internal that tells you today is THE DAY. NOW is the moment to take action on what you truly desire to achieve.

Do you sometimes know exactly what to do next, but you don’t take action because of a variety of excuses – that next step feels too hard, too icky, or you’re too tired, too busy?

Or do you sometimes feel you know you need to make changes to achieve that desire, but you just don’t know what changes you need to make? That’s difficult, isn’t it? The only way this scenario changes is by taking action because doing the same thing will give you the same results. And you are ready for that change, yes?

One Foot in Front of the Other

I know you are ready, and it’s time! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. It wasn’t easy for me so I decided to start with something I enjoyed but had not done in 35 years – singing. I started simply by singing in the car, shower, and while I was exercising. I couldn’t see the whole way ahead of me. I could only see 1 or 2 steps ahead, and I put my faith in that because that is all I could do at the time. Anything more felt overwhelming and difficult. The key is to be 100% committed to taking the next step.

Be Flexible and Try

Once you’ve made the decision, put a stake in the ground, you then need to start and put yourself on a path. You need to just try. That path may not be exactly right, but when you are committed to self-improvement, to making changes in your life, the next step will reveal itself. I liken it to learning a new song on my guitar. I don’t learn the entire song in one sitting; I learn it in stages. First, I learn the new chords and notes; then just the first few lines of the song; and finally, I put the entire song together. And even then, it requires more practice, vocal tweaking, musical adjustments. This way, it sounds like my personal song – the way I want it to sound, so I can sing and play it the best way for me.

Sometimes, I get started and realize the song is just not for me. Sometimes, I’m really drawn to another song or a different type of music at that time. That’s okay! Flexibility is another key. At that point, I switch gears to something more compelling, appropriate, etc. What I learned is that it’s not a failure or waste of time. That experience was another learning opportunity where I learned along the way – new chords, notes, and music.  More importantly, I learned what I really enjoy and what speaks to me.

It’s often said that our biggest regrets in our life are often about what we didn’t try or do rather than what we did do and it didn’t work out. It’s a decision to live a life that is more than just going through the motions – it’s worth the decision to step out of your comfort zone and Unleash Your Inner Superstar!
